Story Telling & Song Circles

One of the ways our ancestors connected with one another was over stories and songs. These were an integral part of community, weaving threads across time, nature, the unseen realms, and humanity as a species. Stories were usually told at night by roaring fires as a means of nourishment, connection, and entertainment. Songs were, and in some ways, continue to be woven through the fabric of human existence. Our storytelling and song circle events attempt to replicate the ancient primordial village fire as we create community, support one another and create the modern village. This ancient healing modality can be a transformative vehicle for community building and connection to our ancestral ways, the Land, ourselves and each other. At LPHS we hold storytelling song circle events at the LPHS Farm and aim to bring these into the community, particularly at unhoused community camps.

BIPOC & Queer Youth Mentorship

We believe that one of the major components missing in our culture is village. With the loss of village has come the loss of elders and thereby the guidance needed to transition into the healthy adulthood necessary to move our species and the planet forward in a sustainable way. At LPHS we host back-to-the-land, nature-based youth programs/mentorship. We also partner with other organizations to bring mentorship into our communities. Our mentors have backgrounds in the field of mental health, recovery and/or lived experience and are carefully screened upon hiring, both for paid and volunteer positions.

UNhoused Population Programming

The growing need for community and care within our unhoused populations in the Pacific Northwest is vast. As houselessness continues to expand, the unhoused are some of the most marginalized members of our community. We collaborate with other nonprofit organizations in order to bring supportive programming to unhoused community camps such as our story telling circles, back-to-the-land programs, and recovery mentorship programs. Programming for the unhoused community will launch in 2026.

Tobacco Cessation Program

The Liberation Pathways Tobacco Cessation Program (LPTCP) treats Tobacco addiction and misuse through changing users’ relationship with Tobacco, and it targets the many underlying factors that led to addiction in the first place and that perpetuate the need for use. Coming in 2026, pending future funding.

“The trees act not as individuals, but somehow as a collective. Exactly how they do this, we don’t yet know. But what we see is the power of unity. What happens to one happens to us all. We can starve together or feast together.”
